True Leaf Alphington

The origin of Growing Food Justice lies here, in Alphington. This site, a reclaimed landfill now thriving as a local food hub, was Sustain’s first community farm project.

Starting life as the Melbourne Food Hub, Alphington has gone through several iterations – learning how food justice farming works (and doesn’t) through trial and error. The farm has supported local food business start-ups, a climate-smart classroom project, corporate volunteering and food production for community food relief.

A sense of entrepreneurship, pathfinding and possibility powers the Alphington site.

Supported by the Growing Food Justice and Sustain team, a young farmer and their budding food business call Alphington home today.

Together, we’re finding a pathway through the land access, enterprise and other barriers that must be overcome for other young farmers to step into a food justice future.

You can support True Leaf Alphington to keep growing here.
