Food Justice Internships

There’s a place for you on our 2025 Food Justice Internship & Urban Farm Incubator Programmes

In 2025 we will be offering several paid opportunities for young people, and First Nations people, in the City of Darebin. Come and work with an experienced urban farmer and learn how to grow food from seed to harvest and sale, using bio-intensive practices for growing healthy food.

The programmes focus on practical activities for a productive community garden - creating pathways for a future career in sustainability and agriculture. As a food justice intern, your work will focus on:

  • Understanding healthy soil

  • Growing from seed and propagating cuttings

  • Compost and mulching

  • Garden maintenance and pest control

  • A range of hands-on skills

  • Discussions on food justice and Indigenous plant use

  • Commercialisation of an urban farm

  • Education and employment pathways

These programs are intended for young people (18-25 years old) experiencing employment or educational challenges, and members of First Nations communities who have an interest in growing food.

Fill in the below expression of interest and we’ll be in touch in early 2025 with more information.
